Our Story

Sometimes, the best ideas come from unlikely places. The genesis of Lowcountry Gold didn’t come from a strategy retreat. It came from a hospital bed, where founder Dave Douglass was recovering from a life-changing surgery. Prior to this, Douglass had many careers and adventures – casino owner, Montessori school teacher, real estate magnate, father of 6, and dog dad to many. But what stood out the most? The satisfaction he received from helping others.
After completing Montessori service trips to Africa and mentoring in his community, Douglass felt the calling to assist others, and decided his next business would harness this. Having been introduced to CBD and hemp through friends and family, Douglass understood its life-changing potential. As he healed, David began to form a plan to grow his own crop in South Carolina and release a product that showed tremendous potential in making people healthier, happier and more productive.
No pharmaceuticals and no artificial ingredients. Just clean, safe, healthy and high-quality, USDA-certified organic products – made with a system of processing that’s solvent-free and handcrafted. In October 2020, we purchased 120 acres in rural South Carolina and began. Since then, we’ve built a 10,000 square foot greenhouse, farmed two acres of outdoor hemp and began a processing hub. It’s been a long journey, but we’re ready for you!

You can see what we're made of.

First, we start with organic hemp seed. We grow all our own hemp on our own farm, using all-organic methods to produce the highest quality hemp.

Then, we test the hemp for potency and bad stuff. As we process, we only use the flowers of the plant. No seeds and stems!

Next, we produce our own oils with the least damage to the natural goodness of the planet. We use only ice water, low heat and low pressure. No ethanol or CO2 extraction.

Finally, we package our product in recycled sea glass. And our external packaging is made from hemp paper with the same exacting standards as our CBD products. If we used normal cardboard, what kind of hemp company would we be?
